Privacy Policy

Short version: Your academic data (Canvas token, assignments, grades) never leaves your device. For Pro subscribers, your license key and an anonymous install ID are sent to Lemon Squeezy to verify your subscription. No personal data is ever sold or used for advertising.
1 What Information Is Stored
AssignWatch stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's local storage. None of your academic data is transmitted to AssignWatch or Campus Stack servers.

chrome.storage.local — it is never placed in chrome.storage.sync and therefore never synced across devices. Credentials stay on the device where you entered them.
2 What We Do NOT Collect
- Your name, email address, or student ID
- Browsing history or activity outside Canvas or Gradescope
- Your grades or academic content (this stays on your device)
- Location data
- Payment card or banking information (handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy)
- Usage analytics, behavioral tracking, or telemetry of any kind
- Any data via
chrome.storage.sync
3 Third-Party Services
AssignWatch contacts the following external services. We only contact them when their specific feature is in use.

4 Google API Services — Limited Use Disclosure
AssignWatch's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Google Calendar access is used solely to create calendar events for your Canvas assignments. We do not use Google user data for any other purpose, do not transfer it to any third party, do not use it for advertising or profiling, and do not allow humans to access your Google data.
5 Chrome Permissions Explained
- storage — saves your settings, Canvas credentials, and cached assignments locally on your device
- alarms — schedules periodic background refreshes and deadline notifications
- notifications — sends browser alerts when assignments are due soon
- tabs — used in Browser Session mode to communicate with your active Canvas tab, and to open checkout or Calendar pages
- identity — requests a Google OAuth token when you connect Google Calendar (Pro). Your token is stored only on your device and sent only to Google's Calendar API.
- downloads — saves your .ics calendar export file when you click "Export .ics" (Pro)
- host_permissions: *.instructure.com — allows API calls to your school's Canvas instance
- host_permissions: api.lemonsqueezy.com — validates your Pro license key
- host_permissions: *.gradescope.com — reads Gradescope pages when Gradescope sync is enabled (Pro)
- host_permissions: googleapis.com — creates Google Calendar events when sync is enabled (Pro)
6 Data Retention & Deletion
Your data exists only in your browser's local storage. You can delete it at any time:
- Open AssignWatch Settings → clear your Canvas token and domain to remove credentials
- Pro users: click "Remove License" in Settings → deactivates your license on Lemon Squeezy and clears all billing data from your device
- Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data automatically
- Alternatively: open
chrome://extensions→ AssignWatch → Details → Clear site data
7 Children's Privacy
AssignWatch is designed for college students and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used this extension, please contact us.
8 Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised. For significant changes, we will note the update in the extension's What's New section. Continued use of AssignWatch after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
